VAT summary: periods and reading
Reports & VAT
How to pick dates and why the report can look empty when movements exist.
What it shows
Output VAT, input VAT, and net from posted journals on VAT accounts — including manuals and sales/purchase postings, not unposted invoice documents alone.
Choosing the period (critical)
Only journals dated inside From/To are included. If invoices are in July and you filter through 30 June, totals are zero — correctly. Clear dates for everything, or match the month of the journals (e.g. 1–31 July).
Tip: If you see a hint that VAT exists outside the filter, widen the range to the suggested dates.
Accounts included
2100 output VAT, 2200 input VAT, plus Saudi combined VAT accounts (e.g. 22031) and similarly named accounts. A combined VAT statement may differ from a single card if activity is split.
Reading the numbers
Output usually from sales. Input from eligible purchases/expenses. Net ≈ output − input. The lines table lists each journal in range.
Export
Export PDF or Excel from the same screen after locking the correct period for your accountant or archive.
